Semicoa Fortifies Optoelectronics Silicon Foundry Leadership

COSTA MESA, Calif. September 6, 2005 - Semicoa today announced the hiring of George Papadopoulos as the Director of Wafer Fabrication Engineering and Operations. In this new role for Semicoa, George will be responsible for ramping the companys emerging optoelectronics technology in addition to managing the wafer fabrication expansion efforts.

We are delighted to have George join our team, said Rich Moore, Semicoa President and CEO. His 15 years of diverse semiconductor experience, specifically with optoelectronics manufacturing, will help accelerate our expanding product offerings aimed at the visible and near-infrared silicon applications.

Prior to joining Semicoa, Mr. Papadopoulos held both Director of Manufacturing Engineering and Process Development positions at IQC, a biophotonics start-up and NanoOpto, a nanotechnology start-up. George held various Product Engineering positions during his 11-years with Perkin Elmer Optoelectronics with the most recent 3-years being the silicon wafer fab Engineering Manager for PEs III V technologies.

Mr. Papadopoulos academic background includes a Masters in Electrical Engineering from Carleton University in Ottawa, Canada with Bachelors of Science in Physics from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada.
