SEMICOA Maintains DSCC Approval
COSTA MESA, Calif., October 26, 2009 – DSCC completed an extensive audit requested by SEMICOA of its facility in Costa Mesa, CA. SEMICOA received approval to continue manufacture of all qualified SEMICOA device types without exception or change to process. This action eliminates any confusion or uncertainty of compliance among its customers.
SEMICOA has been in business for 41 years. Purchased by Microsemi Corporation in July 2008, the Department of Justice, Antitrust Division filed a settlement requiring Microsemi to divest all of the assets that it acquired from SEMICOA Corporation on the basis that without the divestiture there would be little or no competition in the development, manufacture and sale of certain semiconductor devices used in military and space programs essential to the security of the United States.
As a result, SEMICOA will continue to operate independently backed by the resources of private equity firm Vance Street Capital and managed by the original team prior to the acquisition. With the support of Vance Street Capital, SEMICOA has in place the significant financial backing to execute its business objectives for current and long term growth.
“Our focus is on broadening our existing hi rel discrete and new product offerings including bipolar diodes, MOSFETs, IGBTs and other power related products in die and packaged form.” states Bill Caparelli, SEMICOA Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing. Since August, 2009, SEMICOA has hired more than 40 new employees staffing up all departments during its first stage of growth.
Most recently, SEMICOA has augmented its Radiation Engineering Section, enhancing its department solely dedicated to supporting customer needs for radiation tolerant devices aimed at space applications. Industry leader, Brian Triggs has been brought on-board to head up Radiation Engineering. Triggs, with 30 years of experience in Aerospace working with Raytheon, Martin Marietta and McDonnell Douglas Astronautics will be consolidating all radiation effects activities and will be responsible for oversight and technical direction.
Headquartered in Southern California, SEMICOA has design, development and manufacturing facilities achieving the highest government qualifications (JANS MIL-PRF 19500 space level) and is ISO 9001 certified. The manufacturing facility capabilities include design, fabrication, assembly, and testing.
